Tightening the noose around the drug peddlers, the sleuths belonging to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) have recovered 5.4 kg heroin and have nabbed seven drug peddlers within two days in this border district.
While divulging details, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that following the inputs, a trap was on Ferozepur-Mallanwala road near Attari bus stand in Arif ke during which the CIA sleuths nabbed two drug smugglers Joginder Singh alias Kaka resident of Habib Wala village, which is situated near the international border and Balwinder Singh alias Rinku a resident of Bedi Colony in city area, while they were coming on a bike (PB 05 V 3172) towards city area.
The SSP said the accused were asked to stop their bike at the naka and during the checking, 1.798 kg heroin was recovered from them following which they had been booked under sections 21,61,85 of NDPS Act.
Yesterday also, in two separate cases, the CIA sleuths had recovered 3.602 kg heroin, one car (Chevrolet PB 05B 0551) and two mobile phones besides nabbed five drug smugglers. While 1.591 kg heroin had been recovered from the accused identified as Vishal and Shivam Kumar, another consignment of 2.91 kg heroin was recovered from three accused identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy (20) his younger brother Sarabjit Singh alias Sathi (18) both residents of Chandiwala village, which is situated few meters away from the international Indo-Pakistan border and Pamma Singh (22) resident of village Sahan ke in Mamdot block while they travelling on a bike (PB 05 AP 5825).
The SSP said that police is leaving no stone unturned to curb the drug smuggling in the region and in several cases, properties of the drug smugglers are also being attached.
Earlier On June 23, two drug smugglers were nabbed by police and 4.916 kg heroin was recovered from them. On June 17, the police had nabbed 9.4 kg heroin and drug money of Rs. 2.10 lakhs and arrested one person. On May 31, three drug smugglers were nabbed by police and 2.164 kg heroin along with drug money of Rs. 8.30 lakh had been recovered.
