Intensifying its crackdown on narcotics, the Police has recovered 13.21 kg of heroin and arrested three drug smugglers in two separate operations in Ferozepur district. This brings the total heroin seizure in the district to over 33 kg within a span of one week.
While addressing the media persons, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that in the first operation, based on credible intelligence, a team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) apprehended two accused identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori (19) and Gurpreet Singh alias Kaali (23), both residents of Rajo Ke Gatti village.
(SUBHEAD) “A trap was laid after receiving inputs about a recent consignment, leading to their arrest and recovery of heroin,” the SSP stated. Both have been booked under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Sadar Police Station.
Earlier, on July 25, Ramesh Kumar was arrested with 15 kg heroin near Sodhi Nagar, and an additional 5.506 kg was later recovered from his house on July 27.
