In an exemplary initiative, Sriganganagar District Collector Dr. Manju has taken a pledge to donate organ(s). She has also appealed to the public to come forward in this noble work.

She took the pledge on the call of the Central and State Government. The pledge reads – I hereby unequivocally authorise the removal of the mentioned organ(s) and/or tissue(s) from my body for therapeutic purpose after being declared Brainstem/Cardiac dead by medical experts.

Dr. Manju said that organ donation is a great donation, which brings a second life to someone and hope to his family. Trying to remove the misconceptions related to organ donation, she clarified that organ donation is a safe process and it is not against any religious or social beliefs. She said that medical science has progressed so much that through organ donation, many organs like kidney, liver, heart, lungs and eyes can be donated, so that patients suffering from serious diseases can get a new life. She emphasized that every person should think seriously about organ donation at least once in their lifetime and discuss it with his/her family.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Ajay Singla said that the Department has planned to conduct an awareness program to take this campaign forward. This will include seminars, workshops and public meetings, so that more and more people can be made aware of the importance of organ donation and they can be inspired to take a pledge to donate organs
