GoI TEAM VISITS FLOOD-AFFECTED AREAS OF FAZILKA DISTRICT

A team deputed by the Government of India to assess the flood-affected regions of Punjab commenced its visit from Fazilka district.

At Fazilka, the team was warmly welcomed by Commissioner Manjit Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu and others. The team conducted a ground-level assessment by visiting villages across the Sutlej Creek using boats.

The visiting team comprised Sudip Dutta, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Laxman Ram Buldak, Director, Agriculture, Prakash Chand, Deputy Director, Ministry of Jal Shakti and R.K. Tiwari, CEA, Ministry of Power. The members thoroughly reviewed the damage caused to crops, houses, and basic infrastructure in the district.

During the visit at village Noor Shah, Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna briefed the central team about the prevailing local conditions.

The team, using boats, also inspected the affected areas of Noor Shah, Ghurka, Kawanwali Pattan, and surrounding villages to evaluate the extent of losses.

Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu strongly presented the district’s case before the GOI team.
