AROUND 1700 GAZETTED OFFICERS TO SUPERVISE RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATIONS IN THE FLOOD AFFECTED VILLAGES: ORDERS CM

MOVE AIMED AT ENSURING DIRECT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ADMINISTRATION AND PEOPLE OF FLOOD AFFECTED VILLAGES

In order to further effectively monitor the rescue and relief operations in the flood affected villages across the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday directed the officers to deploy a gazetted officer in every marooned village to supervise the operations. 

The Chief Minister said that to ensure direct communication between the administration and the people of flood-affected villages in the state a gazetted officer for each village. He said that this will enable people affected by the natural disaster to share all kinds of problems with them and ensure a prompt and appropriate solution. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that by Thursday around 1698 villages in 23 districts have been inundated due to floods thereby affecting more than 3.80 lakh people in the state. 

The Chief Minister said that massive relief and rescue operations are already going on in the flood torn areas to ensure that people do not face any sort of problem. He said that special thrust is being laid to ensure relief in the flood affected areas of the state so that people do not face any sort of problem. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to the well being of the people in these testing times. 

The Chief Minister said that the state government has already ordered a special Girdawari to ascertain the loss incurred to people due to floods in the state. He said that the officers have been directed to ensure that the Special Girdawari is done in a fair manner so that people are duly compensated for their loss. Bhagwant Singh Mann assured the people that his government will compensate the people for every loss.
