Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian today informed that with rainfall subsiding in upper hilly regions as well as in Punjab, the state has witnessed relief from floods. He said that as per district reports, there has been no further rise in the affected population during the past 24 hours although some areas of farmland remain submerged. He also shared that no fresh loss of human life has been reported during this period.
Giving further details, the Revenue Minister informed that as many as 21,929 people have been evacuated from marooned areas across Punjab. The major evacuations were carried out till date in Gurdaspur (5581 persons), Ferozepur (3840), Fazilka (3953), Amritsar (2734), Pathankot (1139), Hoshiarpur (1615), Kapurthala (1428), Jalandhar (511), Barnala (539), Mansa (178), Moga (145), Rupnagar (245) and Tarn Taran (21).
(SUBHEAD)He said that 196 relief camps were opened across the state where 7108 affected people were given shelters, with maximum inmates in Fazilka (2548), Hoshiarpur (1041), Ferozepur (776), Pathankot (693), Jalandhar (511), Barnala (539), Amritsar (371), Rupnagar (245), Moga (145), Mansa (89), Sangrur (80), Kapurthala (57) and Gurdaspur (13).
The Revenue Minister informed that 504.16 more hectares of crops were affected in the last 24 hours. This includes 286.5 hectares in Fazilka, taking the district’s total to 18,072 hectares. With an additional 10.09 hectares, Kapurthala’s tally has reached 17,817 hectares. In Ludhiana, 20 more hectares were damaged, bringing the total to 52 hectares, while Patiala recorded an increase of 208 hectares, raising its total to 808 hectares. Overall, 1.72 lakh hectares of farmland have been damaged across 18 districts till date.
The Cabinet Minister said that although 46 more villages and 117 people were affected during the past 24 hours, no loss of human life has been reported in this period. Notably, 43 lives have been lost across 14 districts of the state from August 1 to September 4, 2025.
The Cabinet Minister said that within 24 hours, 20 more villages have been affected in Patiala, 12 in Ludhiana, 10 in Jalandhar, two in Fazilka and one each in Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala. He said that so far 1948 villages across 22 districts have been impacted and with 117 more people, the total figure has reached 3,84,322 affected population.
He said that a total of 24 NDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Rupnagar (2 each), Fazilka and Gurdaspur (4 each), Ferozepur and Patiala (3 each), Hoshiarpur and Pathankot (1 each). Similarly, 2 SDRF teams are active in Kapurthala. He further informed that 24 units of the Army, Navy and Air Force have also been deployed in flood-hit areas while around 35 helicopters of the Indian Air Force and Army are providing air support. The BSF too has extended its assistance in Ferozepur. Besides this, 144 boats and one state helicopter are engaged in relief measures.
