Continuing with the drive against corrupt Police Officer in Delhi Police, the Vigilance Unit Barakhamba Road, Delhi Police have arrested ASI Rakesh Kumar posted at Police Station Hauz Qazi on the allegations of acceptance of bribe amount of Rs. 15,000/- from the complainant resident of Bazar Sita Ram, Haus Qazi.
The complainant alleged that ASI Rakesh, Division Officer of his area is demanding a bribe for not implicating him in false case.
On Tuesday, the complainant approached the Vigilance Branch with a written complaint and informed that ASI Rakesh Kumar, PS Hauz Qazi had called him today at 12:30 PM at PS Hauz Qazi to deliver the bribe. The complainant produced ₹15,000/- (30 notes of ₹500 each) as the bribe amount for the trap.
A trap was laid by the Vigilance team, at about 12:30 PM, the complainant, entered PS Hauz Qazi. After some time, both the complainant and accused ASI Rakesh Kumar came outside the PS. The complainant gave the pre-determined signal to the vigilance team indicating that alleged Police officials has received the bribe amount.
Vigilance team members rushed to apprehend the accused. However, ASI Rakesh Kumar sensed the vigilance raid and threw the bribe currency notes into the air. Due to heavy public movement in the area, some members of the crowd picked up part of the currency before the situation was controlled by other vigilance team officials. An amount of ₹10,000/- was recovered from the spot, while ₹5,000/- was picked up by the public and could not be recovered.
A case FIR No. 19/2025 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, dt. 09.09.2025, PS Vigilance has been registered in the matter and accused ASI Rakesh Kumar has been arrested in the case who would be produced at Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday.
