Following the recent floods, the teams of specialist doctors have been deployed to provide medical care in flood affected areas by the Punjab Health Department, this was stated by CMO Dr Rajwinder Kaur today.
(MOREPIC1) The CMO said that a mega medical camp was organized at Radha Soami Dera in the border village of Jalloke, where over 300 patients received check-ups and necessary medicines. she said that the camp included specialists in dermatology, orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, dentistry, and general medicine. In addition, children were vaccinated on-site, and antenatal check-ups were conducted for 16 pregnant women by gynecologist Dr. Shaina Mehta. Six children also received immunizations at the camp.
The CMO emphasized that the Health Department is actively working to prevent the outbreak of any serious waterborne or vector-borne diseases. “Daily, over 60 medical teams are providing medicines and healthcare services in flood-affected villages. Specialist teams are now being deployed to areas where floodwaters have receded, ensuring continued medical support,” she said.
To control mosquito-borne diseases, spray operations are also being conducted in homes across the affected regions. Officials present at the camp included Additional Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakur, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Meenakshi Abrol, orthopedic specialist Dr. Yugpreet, dermatology expert Dr. Naveen Sethi, ophthalmologists Dr. Tushti and Dr. Dikshit Singla, pediatrician Dr. Anish Mani, Medical Officers Dr. Rekha and Dr. Vibhu, along with other health staff and media officers.
The Health Department assured that these medical camps would continue in all flood-affected areas until the risk of disease is fully mitigated, and residents were advised not to panic but to seek timely medical care.
