On the eve of World Ozone Day, a grand tree plantation drive was organized at the BSF campus in Sriganganagar under the joint auspices of Vriksh Sakha Sanstha and the 48th Battalion of the Border Security Force. Taking a significant step towards environmental conservation, a human-made forest was established using the Miyawaki technique, planting 2100 fruit-bearing and shade-giving trees.
Vishwabandhu Gupta, President of Vriksh Sakha Sanstha, said that the initiative, part of the campaign “One Small Step Towards Environmental Conservation,” aimed not only to plant trees but also to spread awareness about environmental protection in society. The dense forest created using the Miyawaki technique includes various species of plants, which will contribute to enhancing the region’s biodiversity in the future.
BSF Deputy Commandant Ramveer, Assistant Inspector Vivek, Vriksh Sakha Sanstha President Vishwabandhu Gupta, Naresh Kumar Anand, Rajesh Jain, Kisna Jewellers, also participated enthusiastically. Together, they planted trees and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation.
Gupta urged the public to take small steps towards environmental protection, such as tree plantation, water conservation, and participation in cleanliness drives. He added, “Our goal is to make Sriganganagar greener, cleaner, and more environmentally friendly. The contribution of every citizen is crucial for this.”
