The much-awaited National Silk Expo – Wedding Season Special opened today at Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28B, Madhya Marg, drawing an enthusiastic response from shoppers and handloom enthusiasts across the city. The six-day exhibition, which will run from Friday to 26th November 2025, is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, with free entry for visitors.

Inaugurated amid vibrant colours and traditional décor, the expo showcases the rich heritage of Indian weaving traditions. Featuring over 150 master weavers and top designers from across India, the exhibition brings together a remarkable selection of pure silk and cotton sarees, designer wear, ethnic apparel, handcrafted jewellery and exclusive festive collections. The diverse line-up includes renowned styles such as Banarasi, Kanchipuram, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Uppada, Ikkat, Tussar and contemporary fusion designs—offering the perfect blend of tradition and elegance for the upcoming wedding season.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jayesh Kumar, of the Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti and organiser of the National Silk Expo, emphasised the social vision behind the initiative. “The expo is not just a platform for showcasing products; it is a movement to support and empower the weavers of India. Our main objective is to promote traditional artisans, provide them with a sustainable marketplace and ensure that their exquisite handloom creations reach customers directly,” he said. Kumar added that the initiative has successfully created strong markets for weavers in cities where they otherwise lack commercial exposure. “Visitors can be assured of authentic, pure silk and cotton products sourced straight from the artisans, without any middlemen,” he noted.

On the opening day, shoppers were seen exploring the wide range of festive and bridal collections, interacting with artisans and appreciating the craftsmanship behind each piece. The exhibition offers convenient shopping with UPI, debit and credit cards accepted at all stalls.
