On a tip-off, the Abohar City-1 police arrested a member of a counterfeit currency printing gang. A case was registered under Section 178 of the BNS after recovering counterfeit currency worth approximately Rs. 5200 from him.

Police station incharge Ravinder Singh said that someone provided information that Naresh Kumar alias Shanty, a resident of Jammu Basti, was using a color printer at his home to prepare counterfeit Indian currency notes of Rs. 500, Rs. 200, and Rs. 100 denominations, which he frequently used in the city market. The suspect was reportedly waiting for someone on the newly constructed bypass Seed Farm Road to hand over the counterfeit currency to someone. Head Constable Jagjit Singh conducted a raid, recovering Rs. 5200 in Indian counterfeit currency.

The police said that the accused will be further interrogated to find how long he had been involved in printing counterfeit currency and how much counterfeit currency he had prepared and supplied to other places
