CBI COURT AWARDS 7 YEARS TO POSTAL ASSISTANT IN A FRAUD CASE

The CBI Court Indore on , today, i.e., on Friday has convicted and sentenced the accused Rashid Khan, then Postal Assistant at Mahidpur/Tarana Post Office to Seven Years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a Fine of Rs. 45,000 for Rs.13.41 Lakh Fraud. 

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 23.06.2021 on a written complaint of the Senior Superintendent of Post Office, Malwa Division, Ujjain.

It was alleged that during the period from 2019 to 2020 the accused Rashid Khan, then Postal Assistant at Mahidpur/Tarana Post Office and who was also officiating Sub Post Master at Mahidpur Sub Post Office, intermittently, forged withdrawal vouchers of 06 account holders of Mahidpur Sub Post Office and thereby fraudulently withdrew total amount of Rs. 13,41,000 from the accounts of said account holders and thereby caused wrongful loss to the said account holders & Postal Department and corresponding wrongful gain to himself. 

The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
