The Chief Election Commissioner of India, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, held bilateral meetings with the Heads of 32 Election Management Bodies (EMBs) on the sidelines of the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM)-2026 today.

During these bilateral interactions, a wide range of global electoral experiences, best practices and innovations were discussed. The engagements were aimed at further strengthening India’s longstanding partnerships in election management and promoting democratic cooperation at the international level.

In the course of the discussions, India offered to collaborate with the EMBs in developing technology platforms similar to ECINET in their respective countries, in accordance with their domestic legal frameworks. India also offered to extend training support to election officials of the EMBs through the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM).

While appreciating the ECINET digital platform, many EMBs expressed keen interest in collaborating with India for adopting similar technological solutions to enhance the efficiency, transparency and credibility of electoral processes in their countries.

The bilateral meetings set the tone for high-level global dialogue on the future of democracy and electoral governance. These engagements will also further India’s overarching theme for the Chairship of International IDEA- “Democracy for inclusive, peaceful, resilient and sustainable world”.

Bilateral meetings were held with the Election Management Bodies of Mauritius, Mexico, Indonesia, Portugal, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa, Tunisia, Namibia, Mongolia, Uruguay, Estonia, Botswana, Cameroon, Bhutan, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Albania, Guyana, Uzbekistan, Fiji, Maldives, the United States of America, Zambia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Suriname, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Ireland.

Meetings with the remaining Heads of Election Management Bodies will take place tomorrow, January 23.
