GCE CHANDIGARH HOSTS ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET; ROHIT PANDEY AND NANCY SHARMA SHINE AS TOP ATHLETES

The Annual Athletic Meet was held on 5th and 6th February 2026 with great enthusiasm and zeal, witnessing vibrant participation from students of B.Ed., M.Ed. and PGDGC classes.

Rohit Pandey and Nancy Sharma were adjudged the Best Athlete (Boy) and Best Athlete (Girl) respectively at the Annual Athletic Meet of Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Dr. Shiv Kumar, Dronacharya Awardee (2020), Chief Guest. Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted the importance of sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork among students.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shiv Kumar emphasized the importance of physical fitness and regular participation in sports for holistic development. He appreciated the dedication, discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the students throughout the meet and motivated them to make sports an integral part of their daily routine.

A total of 29 events, including races, discus throw, shot put, long jump, tug of war, skipping race, chatty race and other track and field events, were organized during the meet. All events witnessed enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the students.

A Yoga demonstration was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Bijendra Singh, highlighting the significance of yoga for physical and mental well-being. A Fancy Dress Competition was organized under the supervision of Dr. Nisha Singh, Ms. Urmil and Ms. Khushi, adding colour and vibrancy to the occasion.

The formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Neelam Paul, Associate Professor of Physical Education and Organiser of the Annual Athletic Meet, acknowledging the cooperation and support of the faculty members, staff and students.

The Annual Athletic Meet concluded on a high note, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and excellence.
