In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Zira apprehended four alleged drug smugglers and seized a huge consignment of heroin along with weapons and cash. The operation led to the recovery of 22.295 kg heroin, drug money amounting to Rs. 2.05 lakh, and two Glock pistols with magazines and live rounds.

Sharing details of the operation, DIG Snehdeep Sharma stated that acting on specific intelligence inputs, CIA teams laid a trap near Dulchi Ke village, located close to the international border. During the operation, three accused — Jagjeet Singh alias Jagga (26), a resident of Arniwala village in Fazilka; Malook Singh (29) of Gandhu Kilcha village; and Kirandeep Singh alias Deep (36) from the city area — were arrested. The police recovered 2.717 kg heroin, four mobile phones, an I-20 car (HR 30 Q 3251), along with two Glock pistols, two magazines, and four live 9 mm rounds from their possession.

(SUBHEAD)DIG Sharma further disclosed that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the fourth accused, Partap Singh (26), a resident of Kilche village. From his shop, the police recovered an additional 19.5478 kg heroin and drug money of Rs. 2.05 lakh.

All four accused have been booked under Section 21 of the NDPS Act and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Sadar Police Station (FIR No. 52).

SSP Bhupinder Singh revealed that Malook Singh had previously been booked in four NDPS cases, while Jagjeet Singh alias Jagga and Partap Singh had each faced one case in the past.
