Taking serious note of a horrific incident in Phillaur where a mentally challenged Dalit youth was allegedly forced to engage in an act of bestiality with a dog, the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter. 

The case came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media. 

Providing details, Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, S. Jasvir Singh Garhi, stated that the Commission has taken immediate notice of the incident's severity and has issued a notice to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jalandhar Rural, demanding a detailed report on the incident on February 19, 2026 and has ordered DSP Bharat Masih to personally submit the information report in two copies (one original and one photocopy) at the Commission office.
