Under the leadership of SMO Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Glaucoma related screening and awareness camps were organized at Community Health Center, Wahabwala.

Dr. Gagandeep Singh said the health department is observing World Glaucoma Week under the slogan “Let's unite for a glaucoma free world”. Glaucoma treatment can be successful if it is diagnosed and treated timely. Therefore, regular eye check-up is necessary. Loss of vision can be prevented through surgery.

Ophthalmic officer Mandeep Singh said that medicines should never be taken from quacks and put in the eyes. If there are symptoms like general headache or pain in the eyes, frequently changing the number of reading glasses, coloured circles around the light, sudden loss of vision with pain and redness in the eyes, narrowing of the visual field, etc. then we should immediately consult an eye specialist. Every person should keep getting their eyes checked after six months and use glasses in excessive sunlight. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the country so we need to be aware about eye care.

Medical officer Dr. Simran, nursing staff Kuljit Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, health worker Sher Singh, other staff and people were present at the camp.
