REVIVAL OF BLACKLIST

BJP inflicting vengeance upon Punjabi NRI’s by denying them entry to their motherland merely for supporting farmers protests, which is nothing but revival of blacklist, saya Punjab Congress leader Mr. Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
In a hard hitting statement released here today, Sukhpal Singh Khaira former Leader of Opposition condemned the recent denial of entry to prominent NRI’s Darshan Singh Dhaliwal and Amrik Singh Spain, merely on the basis of Section 6 of the Foreigners Order, 1948.
These NRI’s were deported from the Delhi airport without assigning any reason or logic, which is not only erroneous but a very draconian step. Khaira said he has learnt that there are many more names of NRI’s whose visas have been cancelled for similar reasons. This vindictive action of the BJP government amounts to revival of the so called black list, which the BJP claimed to have done away recently.
Khaira reminded the BJP that it were the sons of these very farmers of Punjab who were laying down their lives at the borders to protect the integrity of India. He said recently of the 5 Jawans killed in an encounter in J&K 3 belonged to farmer families. He said the brave Punjabi’s have always been in the forefront to fight for the country both pre and post independence. Khaira wondered how the NRI’s support to farmers protest can be termed asanti Indiaactivity? He reminded BJP of their various demonstrations and protests by their overseas units against the Dr Manmohan Singh government, were they anti India activities?

Khaira said that NRI’s worldwide had peacefully supported the farmers agitation as most of the Punjabi Sikh NRI’s are farmers themselves. He said they felt hurt by the black laws enacted by the BJP government that were being forcefully imposed upon the farmers and protesting against anti people policy is the right of every citizen here as well as abroad. Khaira said there was no violence at all any of the protest held by Punjabi NRI’s overseas to support the farmers cause back in Punjab.
Khaira said Darshan Singh Dhaliwal was one of the most prominent NRI’s whose brother has been a Minister in Punjab. He said Mr.Dhaliwal has since long been involved in many social and charity activities including organising “Langar” for the needy during crises be it the Covid-19 situation or any natural calamity irrespective of caste, colour, creed or country. Similarly, he said Amrik Singh Spain who belonged to his Kapurthala district has been actively supporting cancer patients, organising community food besides promoting Kabaddi in India as well as in Spain, for which he has been honoured too.
Khaira said NRI’s had a great role in shaping the economy of Punjab and have spent hundreds of crores for the development of their respective villages, besides investing in real estate and other industrial projects. He warned the government that such draconian measures of the BJP will only further alienate the NRI fraternity from our country. He urged the BJP government to immediately withdraw the vindictive policy towards the NRI’s and allow them to return to their motherland.
