Working under the directions of senior officers to curb the menace of drug trafficking in Delhi, the team of WR-II, Crime Branch, has busted a gang of drug suppliers of Nigerian descent active in Delhi NCR with the arrest of Nigerian national, namely Micheal Okwu @ John, s/o Okwu, resident of Umuaku, Uli, Anambra, Nigeria, aged 30 years and Chidubem Stanley s/o Okolie r/o Uli, Lagos State, Nigeria, age 43 years. They are part of an active methamphetamine drug supply gang, and a commercial quantity of methamphetamine has been recovered from their possession.
On 18/04/2025, HC Sushil (No. 1425/CR) of WR-II, Crime Branch, Sector-9, Dwarka, received secret information that an African individual was supplying methamphetamine near Nawada Metro Station. The source indicated that the individual would arrive after 04:00 PM on the same day. Acting on this information, the Crime Branch team laid a trap to apprehend the suspect.
During further investigation, one more active member of this drug supply gang was arrested with further recovery of drugs and packaging equipment.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION: The WR-II team has been continuously working to curb the menace of drugs in Delhi NCR and has maintained close surveillance on suspected drug peddlers in the Dwarka area. After weeks of continuous surveillance, HC Sushil received specific secret information regarding the supply of a commercial quantity of methamphetamine in the Uttam Nagar area of Delhi.
During further investigation, concentrated efforts were made to arrest the source of the drugs and other members of this drugs supply gang. As a result, one more Nigerian national, a member of this gang was arrested with an intermediate quantity of Methamphetamine along with packing equipment. The gang uses Nigerian numbers and only internet calling to avoid getting caught and to hide identity at every stage of supply chain , aid Mr. Harsh Indora, DCP Crime-III, Delhi.
Recognizing the need for immediate action, Sh. Harsh Indora, DCP/Crime, constituted a team led by Insp. Akshay comprising SI Manoj, SI Rahul, SI Ravi, HC Naveen, HC Hardeep, HC Sandeep, HC Dinesh, and HC Sushil, under the close supervision of ACP Sh. Ravinder Kumar Rajput.
The team successfully apprehended the drug supplier and recovered 53 grams of methamphetamine (commercial quantity) worth several lakhs of rupees at Matiyala Road, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi.

RECOVERY: • 53 +7 grams of Methamphetamine (Commercial quantity) • Packaging equipment including plastic pouches, weighing machine used for supplying drugs.
INTERROGATION: The accused, Micheal Okwu @ John, s/o Okwu, r/o Umuaku, Uli, Anambra, Nigeria, aged 30 years, was interrogated. He disclosed that he is a resident of Nigeria and came to India in 2019. He completed his secondary education in Nigeria. Facing financial difficulties, he recently came into contact with members of the African community residing in Delhi and started selling drugs to earn a livelihood. He revealed that he used to buy drugs from another African national residing in South Delhi and sold them in small quantities to buyers in the areas of Uttam Nagar and Dwarka, Delhi. Further investigation is underway to unearth the entire drug supply network.
The accused Chidubem Stanley s/o Okolie r/o Uli, Lagos State, Nigeria, age 43 years stated that he came to India in 2020. In 2023 he was living without a valid Visa and was selling Ganjha to make the ends meet. He was arrested with Ganjha by Police in case FIR No.710/23 dated 05/07/23 u/s 21 NDPS Act PS Mongolpuri, Delhi. After coming out of prison on bail, he again started to peddle drugs along with Micheal Okwu., said Mr. Harsh Indora, DCP Crime-III, Delhi.
