In a solemn ceremony held at the Yudh Smarak (War Memorial) in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh (HP), Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C Western Command paid heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The ceremony was marked by military precision and reverence, reflecting the Army’s enduring commitment to honouring its Bravehearts. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, including senior civil administration officials, serving military personnel and veterans reflecting a collective sense of pride, deep gratitude and reverence for fallen heroes’ unparalleled legacy.
The Army Commander laid a wreath on behalf of the Indian Army. Expressing deep respect and gratitude for the indomitable spirit of the Bravehearts he said that the War Memorial, a revered state monument commissioned on 28 September, 1977. The monument stands as a symbol of inspiration for the youth of India to embrace the noble call of service, to protect the integrity and honour of the nation, with the same unwavering commitment and courage displayed by the Bravehearts whose names are etched in golden letters on its plaques.
