TWO ARRESTED WITH POPPY HUSK AND INTOXICATING TABLETS

The sleuths belonging to Narcotics Control Cell (NCC) of Punjab police have arrested two persons and have recovered fifty thousand intoxicating tablets along with one quintal forty kg poppy husk from them, which they had brought from Rajasthan.

Charanjit Singh SSP while divulging details said that following the inputs, a naka was laid near Lakho ke Behram grain market on Ferozepur-Fazilka road and accused Kulwant Singh (a resident of Village Nijami Wala in Makhu block) and Gurkirat Singh (a resident of Basti Shame Wali in Makhu block) were nabbed, while they were coming on a truck (PB 05 AB 8049) from Fazilka side.

The SSP said that during the checking of the truck, the police recovered fifty thousand intoxicating tablets and one quintal forty kg poppy husk.(SUBHEAD)

“The accused used to work for one Nirvair Singh, a resident of Basti Shame Wali in Makhu block who was involved in drug smuggling for the last several years. The accused Kulwant and Gurkirat were working for him as a driver and cleaner of the truck. During the preliminary investigation, both Kulwant and Gurkirat have admitted that they brought these things for Nirvair from a dhaba (Amritsariya Da Dhaba) from Thaap city of Rajasthan. They also admitted that Nirvair used to sell these things on higher rates”, said SSP.

The SSP said that the accused have been booked under 15,22,25,29 NDPS Act at Lakho ke Behram police station (FIR No. 60 Dated 19.05.2022).

“The police has launched a manhunt to nab the main accused Nirvair Singh”, SSP further added.
