MURTI-PRATISHTHA MAHOTSAV OF BAPS MANDIR HELD IN UGANDA

Abohar: Three-day Murti-Pratishtha Mahotsav of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan MandirLira, situated 337 km, north of Uganda’s capital city, Kampalawas celebrated in the presence of Pujya Viveksagar Swami.

The celebrations commenced with a kirtan aradhana. A grand nagar yatra (procession) took place through the streets of Lira in honour of the murtis to be consecrated in the mandir. In the evening appreciation assembly, all who had contributed towards the mandir project were felicitated.
Pujya Viveksagar Swami performed the Vedic installation rituals and inaugurated the mandir. Pragat Brahmaswarup Mahant Swami Maharaj had previously performed the Vedic murti-pratishtha rituals of these murtis.(SUBHEAD)

The High Commissioner of India to Uganda, His Excellency Shri Ajay Kumar came especially from Kampala to grace this occasion.

In 1970 Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj visited Lira with Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Pragat Brahmaswarup Mahant Swami Maharaj.

Initially devotees conducted satsang assemblies at the Sanatan Mandal Hall with the support of karyakars, who traveled frequently to Lira from Kampala.

From 2011, regular vicharan by swamis took place, and with the support of karyakars satsang blossomed to such an extent that the need for a mandir arose.

The owner of Mt. Meru Company, Lalaji Aggarwal, and his son, Arvindbhai, donated land to build a mandir. Under the guidance of Priyavrat Swami, and with the help of Vishvakirti Swami, Yogimanan Swami, resident karyakars and devotees of Kampala the mandir was completed.
