The staff of PS Hauz Khas, South District reported to have busted a racket involved in illegal kidney transplantation by arresting 10 persons.
Police said on May 26, secret information was received at PS-Hauz Khas regarding an illegal kidney transplantation racket operating in the area of Hauz Khas who targeted the poor & needy persons and induced them for giving (sell ) their kidney. They further sold it to the persons who are in need of kidney on a very high price.
On this information, a team was constituted to develop the information further and as per information, a trap was laid down in Hauz Khas area. On pointing out of the informer, one person was located and it was also revealed that such a person will be taken to Hauz Khas in a lab for Pre Anaesthesia Check-up (Medical Tests) by the racket members.
A trap was laid near the private lab in Hauz Khas area where on pointing out of the informer, one person namely Pintu Kumar Yadav was located who informed that he was taken at the lab by Sarvjeet and Vipin on the pretext of treatment of his abdomen pain but when he realized that they took him there for kidney donation, he had arguments with them and they went away from there.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 220/22 dated 26.05.2022 U/S 419/420/468/471/120B/34 IPC &18/19/20 Transplantation of Human Organs Act was registered and investigation of the same was taken up. During course of investigation, a team comprising of Inspr. Bharat Lal, Inspr. Rohit, SI Deepak, SI Dharam Singh, W/SI Archana, W/SI Riya, SI Ramesh, ASI Dinesh, HC Sher Singh, Ct. Naresh, Ct. Vikas, Ct. Rakesh, Ct. Ashwini, Ct Bajrang led by SHO/Hauz Khas Shivani Singh, under overall supervision of Sh Veer Singh, ACP Hauz Khas was formed to bust the racket.
The team started working on the information and worked relentlessly and further, on the instance of Pintu Kumar Yadav, the police staff reached to Sarvjeet Jailwal and Raghu Sharma. On enquiry, it was revealed that Raghu Shrama’s kidney had already been taken by the Sarvjeet & other gang members.After that, on pointing out of the Raghu Sharma, the team raided at A Block, DDA Flats, Paschim Vihar where four persons including one Shailesh Patel with three other persons namely 1. Diwarkar Sarkar 2. Ashwini Pandey and 3. Rizwan were found present and on investigation it was found that these three persons were taken there for illegal kidney transplantation and some medical documents were also recovered from there.
Their all pre medical test were already got conducted by the gang members till that time and they about to take them for illegally transplant their kidneys, but due to the efforts of the police team their lives were saved well in time.
On enquiry, it was revealed that Shailesh Patel used to identify soft targets who are needy persons for the sake of their kidney, all above mentioned three persons were also taken for the same purpose by him and his other associates namely Bikash@Vikash and Vipin @ Abhishek. During further investigation, both Sarvjeet and Shailesh were interrogated at length and on the basis of sufficient evidences on record they were arrested in the case.
On interrogation, both the accused persons revealed that they used to target needy and poor persons for kidney and brought them to one Vikas @ Bikas & one doctor who gave them Rs. 30-40 thousand for this and further sold the kidneys to rich persons on high price.
They further disclosed the names of testing centers, places/hospitals/centers where kidneys used to be transplanted and their other associates namely Vipin @ Abhishek, Vikas @ Bikas, who used to visit the persons after illegal transplantation and payment of money to them.After that, one more accused Md. Latif who worked as a field boy in the Lab in Hauz Khas, got also arrested who used to take the kidney donors/sellers to Diagnostic Centers for their required test that too without any prescription and to one other Centre for DTPA test which is a most important test to know about the working of kidney.Further, during the investigation, accused Bikas @ Vikas and Ranjit Gupta were also arrested.
Accused Bikas @ Vikas provided accommodation to all the donors/sellers at Paschim Vihar and further sent them to one Sonu through Ranjeet Gupta at Guhana, Sonipat for illegal transplantation of kidney.
The Police team along with one FSL’s advance team conducted a raid at a hospital where a set-up has been formed by the accused persons for illegal transplantation in Gohana, Haryana, where Dr Sonu Rohilla (Quack) was found who with the help of doctors, technicians from different big hospitals used to perform illegal transplantation of kidney. The FSL team inspected the whole hospital and the accused Sonu Rohilla was also arrested in the case. After that, the accused Dr Sourabh Mittal was arrested in the case who is an anesthesiologist and worked in a reputed hospital in Delhi and gave his services in illegal transplantation with other accused persons. Further, three more accused Kuldeep Ray Vishvakarama @ KD, Om Prakash Sharma and Manoj Tiwari were arrested in the case and they all are OT Technicians in a one of the big hospital in Delhi with Dr Sourabh Mittal.
INTERROGATION:
Benita Mary Jaiker, IPS, DCP, said, during interrogation, it was revealed that Kuldeep Ray Vishwakarma is the main master mind of this gang who convinced other persons for these illegal transplantations and also selected the Clinic of Sonu Rohilla for execution of operations. He is the persons who paid all the accused persons according to their roles and they had done 12-14 illegal transplantation during last 6-7 months at Guhana, Sonipat setup.
He along with the other accused persons working in one of the big hospital in Delhi and in spite of he is a technician he operated many victims in transplantation. They used to contact the victims as well as the recipients on facebook by forming different groups. During the course of investigation it has also revealed that they used to target young boys from the age group of 20 to 30 years who are in desperate need of money and then through their regular counseling convinced them to sell their kidney. They transplanted more than 20 kidneys till now.
VICTIMS:
Their victims are from different parts of the country are: 1. Raghu Sharma, Age- 21 Yrs, Gujrat. 2. Diwarkar Sarkar, Age-32 Yrs, Guwahati, Assam 3. Ashwini Pandey, Age-26 Yrs, West Bengal. 4. Rizwan, Age- 26 Yrs, Kochi, Kerala.
One receiver of kidney namely Jatin Chawla has also been identified, who belongs to Delhi.
KNOW THE ACCUSED:
Sarvjeet Jailwal, age- 37 Yrs. He took victims to the main accused.2. Shailesh Patel, age – 23 yrs. He took victims to the main accused.3. Md Latif, age-24 years. He worked as a field boy in the Imaging Centre in Hauz Khas who helped in pre tests of the victims. 4. Bikas @ Vikas, age-24 years. He provided accommodation and transportation to Guhana through Ranjit. 5. Ranjit Gupta, age-43 years. He took care the victims at Paschim Vihar and brought them to Guhana. 6. Dr Sonu Rohilla(Quack), age-37 years. He is the owner of the set up at Guhana where he transplanted kidneys. 7. Dr Sourabh Mittal, age-37 year. He is an anesthesiologist who also performed his part in illegal transplantation. 8. Kuldeep Ray Vishvakarama @ KD, age-46 years. He is an OT Technician and performed operations during transplantation. He is kingpin of the gang. 9. Om Prakash Sharma, age-48 years. He is an OT Technician who also performed his part in illegal transplantation. 10. Manoj Tiwari, age-36 yrs. He is an OT Technician who also performed his part in illegal transplantation.
Further investigation is underway. The staff involved in good work is being rewarded.
