Dr. Areet Kaur, here today assumed charge as the new Director Health and Family Welfare,Punjab. She was previously posted as Director National Health Mission, Punjab and then took over the additional assignment of DHS (FW ), Punjab.
She has a vast experience at her hand as in her career spanning more than 30 years she joined the PCMS in the year 1990 as Eye Specialist in District Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib. Thereafter, she also remained posted in different hospitals of Punjab state.
In year 2014 she got promoted as Senior Medical Officer posted at Sub Divisional Hospital Anandpur Sahib (District Roopnagar). During her stint as as Assistant Director at State Headquarter, She looked after many key programmes including National Programme for Control of Blindness and Health & Wellness Programme and Punjab State bagged National award for best performance in these programmes. In year 2021 she was promoted as Deputy Director and was posted as Director National Health Mission, Punjab.
While listing out her priorities she asked the health staff to provide time bound quality services and insisted on quick disposal of matters relating to public. She stressed upon taking necessary steps to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the people of state .
