VIGYAN UTSAV ON ATMANIRBHARTA & INDUSTRY

To commemorate 75 years of progressive India as a part “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology celebrated ‘Vigyan Utsav’ with theme “Atmanirbharta & Industry” showcasing State’s strengths of various industrial sectors and it’s transformational journey to achieve “Atma Nirbharta” by leading the Country from food deficit to food surplus and being one of the most innovative States.

Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, PSCST in her opening remarks talked about major industrial sectors that have contributed significantly towards making Punjab Atmanirbhar in production despite non-availability of raw material & fuels. Dr. Arora also underlined Punjab's leading role in showcasing technologies for Ex-situ utilization of agro-residue for achieving Atmanirbharta in industrial fuels. She also shared the benefits to private sector companies for registering with Department of Scientific & Industrial Research of the Central Govt. and protecting innovations through Intellectual property rights. (SUBHEAD)

In his special address, Dr. Debapriya Dutta, Adviser to the Department of Science & Technology, GoI, commended the concerted efforts of Punjab S&T Council for creating the STI ecosystem in the State and for developing & demonstrating cleaner technologies. He shared that Government of India is actively working on conducive policies and programmes to support tech-led startups and knowledge intensive industries. 

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. H.K. Sardana, Former Chief Scientist, CSIO shared the role of research institutes to support industries in addressing their technological gaps and importance of industry academia linkages & adoption of advanced technologies for atmanirbhar bharat. Dr. P.J. Singh, CMD from Tynor Orthotics highlighted the importance of industry-startup linkages to promote the culture of R&D, innovation and patent filling for mutual growth and help startups overcome the initial challenges. 

Upinder Singh Dhingra, Ernst & Young briefed about various Government schemes for supporting MSMEs to be globally competitive & contribute towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. On the occasion, H.S. Cheema, Chairman Cheema Boilers, Mr. Jatin Sood MD Royal Alloys shared also their success stories. 

The program was attended online by more than 350 industry professionals, officials of Science & Technology Councils and researchers, teachers & students from across the State.
