The meeting of the Committee to discuss the demands of the students/ASA sitting on Dharna regarding hostel allocation and PMS SC Scholarship etc. held on Sunday morning in the Syndicate room, Panjab University, Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Prof Jagtar Singh, DSW including Director, Research & Development, Registrar, FDO, Controller of Examination and other members.

The students had placed the following demands before the authorities through their representatives:

*Release of DMC/Degree of SC students covered under PMS  *Implementation of PMS as per guidelines of Haryana Govt. *Allotment of hostels to SC students as per reservation and other provisions (from special grant from UGC-AICTE) (SUBHEAD)

The committee members deliberated on the above said issues to resolve them amicably. They further discussed how the due arrears in PMS SC Scholarship can be recovered in the best interest of all stakeholders.  After due deliberations, the members of the Committee unanimously resolved to recommend the following:

(A)  The circular issued earlier by the University authorities (No. Mi.sc.A-1/2202-2401 dated 3.5.3021) regarding the issuing of the DMC will immediately be re-issued in consonance with the demand of the students.

(B) The issue of making more rooms available for the SC/ST students in the PU hostels will be referred to a new Grievance Redressal Committee (mentioned below) for its practical solution in the interest of the students.

(C) The PU authorities have already communicated to Govt. of Haryana its position regarding the proposed policy of PMS scholarship scheme keeping in view the financial aspect of the policy. The response from Haryana Govt. is still awaited.

As a result, a sub-committee of the following members was constituted to hold a discussion with three student’s representatives. After an hour long discussion of sub-committee with the students to lift the Dharna, it was decided that a next meeting will be scheduled on Wednesday (10.08.2022) with all required data and students must end their Dharna or move to the designated place for having a conducive dialogue in the next meeting.
