DELHI POLICE NABS PO OF CHANDIGARH ABSCONDING FOR THE LAST OVER 7 YEARS IN CHEATING CASE

ACCUSED WAS DECLARED PO IN A CHEATING CASE OF YEAR 2014 OF PS SECTOR 19, CHANDIGARH, HE WAS ABSCONDING AND EVADING HIS ARREST AFTER REGISTRATION OF CASE AGAINST HIM AND WAS DECLARED PO ON 17.09.2015 BY ORDER OF IST CLASS JUDICIAL MAGISTRATE, CHANDIGARH COURTS. HE WAS DUPING PEOPLE BY PUBLISHING FAKE ADVERTISEMENT IN LOCAL NEWSPAPER OF CHANDIGARH FOR INSTALLATION OF MOBILE TOWERS OF TATA INDICOM WITH FALSE PROMISES TO PAY MONTHLY RENT OF 40,000-50,000/-, RS. 25 LACS ADVANCE AND EMPLOYMENT OF ONE PERSON OF THE FAMILY IN HIS COMPANY, HE WAS ASKING TRAPPED PEOPLE TO DEPOSIT AMOUNTS IN THEIR ACCOUNT FOR BOOKING AMOUNT AND FURTHER PAYMENTS FOR VARIOUS APPROVALS. HE HAD DUPED RS. 2,54,430/- FROM VICTIM OF THIS CASE IN HIS ACCOUNT IN 11 INSTALLMENTS.

On 28.08.2022, a secret information was received by ASI Surender Kumar regarding one person Rahul, who was declared PO in a cheating case by Ist Class Judicial magistrate, Chandigarh Courts and is currently residing at Budh Vihar, is present in Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar Phase-II. The same was conveyed to senior officers and a dedicated team was tasked to nab the accused. 

A special drive against Proclaimed Offenders is being continuously carried out in North-West District and a dedicated team of Special Staff/NWD led by Inspr. Amit Kumar, I/C Special Staff comprising of ASI Surender Kumar, HC Somveer and Ct. Sagar has been constituted to arrest the Proclaimed Offenders in supervision of ACP/Operations and overall supervision of the undersigned.

On the basis of secret information, a raid was conducted in Gali No. 19, Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar Phase-II, Delhi and at instance of the informer, accused identified as Rahul Kumar r/o Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar, Delhi aged 34 years was apprehended by the police team.(SUBHEAD)

Usha Rangnani, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, North-West District, said, during sustained interrogation, he disclosed his involvement in a cheating case vide FIR No. 66/2014 dated 19.04.2014 u/s 420/34 IPC PS Sector-19, Chandigarh in which he was declared Proclaimed Offender vide order dated 17.09.2015 passed by Hon’ble Court of Ist Class Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh Courts.

During sustained interrogation, he further disclosed that he had studied upto 7th class and after leaving the school, he started working in factories. He wanted to earn quick money and in 2011, he adopted modus operandi of cheating. On 23.05.2011, he got published an advertisement in local newspaper “Jagbani (Punjabi)” of Chandigarh for installation of Mobile Towers of Tata Indicom in plot land. On seeing the advertisement, one person namely Jagroop Singh r/o Sector-20, Chandigarh contacted him on mobile number given in the advertisement. He made false promises with Jagroop Singh to pay monthly rent of 40,000/- – 50,000/-, Rs. 25 Lacs in advance and employment of one person of family in his company for installing mobile tower in his plot.

He duped Jagroop Singh when he got trapped in his false promises and deposited Rs. 2,54,430/- in his account in 11 installments on pretext of booking amount and various approvals. After that, he switched off the mobile number which was given by him in the advertisement.

He further disclosed that in April, 2014, he got to know that a cheating case has been registered against him on complaint of Jagroop Singh for the cheating committed by him. After registration of the said case, he started absconding and evading his arrest. He couldn’t be arrested despite efforts made by Chandigarh Police and he was hiding himself from eyes of police by frequently changing his locations in Delhi.

Consequently, accused Rahul Kumar r/o Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar, Delhi was arrested vide DD No. 65A dated 29.08.2022 u/s 41.1 ( C ) CrPC PS Maurya Enclave, Delhi. Accused Rahul Kumar was produced before the Hon’ble Duty Magistrate, Rohini Courts, Delhi and was sent to judicial custody.

Information has been given to IO/SHO of PS Sector-19, Chandigarh to take further course of action against him.
 
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Rahul Kumar r/o Shyam Colony, Budh Vihar, Delhi aged 34 years, studied upto 7th class. He is having parents, wife and children in his family. Presently, he had taken a taxi on rent and was earning by running the same in Uber/Ola. He was living outside in the taxi and was hardly ever coming to meet his family to save himself from eyes of police.
