A 6.6 ft tall statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was unveiled on Tuesday by his nephew Prof. Jagmohan Singh at the memorial that was initially developed by the Labour Council in 1969 by installing a marble statue. Hundreds of people including women shouted Inquilab Zindabad slogans and greeted the chief guest.

The old statue has been replaced and the chowk renovated by Panchkula based Bharat Hiteshi, convener of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Samajik Manch. His father, the late Mathura Dass Hiteshi, was patron of the Labour Council.(SUBHEAD)
