Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal inaugurated Udbhav Awas (Child Care Institute for Girls) that has been sponsored by the daughters of late freedom fighter Sardari Lal Kataria and Arya Mahila Paropkarini Sabha ex-chief Shanta Kataria and would be managed by the Balaji Manav Seva Samiti.

After lighting the traditional lamp, the DC congratulated the organization for this noble work of social welfare and said that she will offer all kinds of support from the district administration.

She said that society's thinking towards girls is changing and now girls are gaining higher status by reading and writing. Many schemes are being run by the Punjab government to educate girls and make them successful in life. With joint social efforts, we will be able to create a good society. Dr Duggal also interacted with the elderly living in the old age home already run by the same organization here.

Mayor of Municipal Corporation Vimal Thatai, SP Mohan Lal, Brahmrishi Mission School director Didi Brahm Rita and other prominent personalities were present.

A message sent by retd. IAS officer Sumedha Kataria, the brain behind the project, was read on the occasion.
