THIRD STATE LEVEL NCORD MEETING HELD IN CHANDIGARH

Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS Advisor to the UT Administrator chaired the third State Level NCORD Meeting along with Sh. Praveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP, UT and Sh. NitinYadav, IAS Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Agriculture along with departmental heads/representatives including Finance Secretary-cum-Secretary Excise & Taxation, IGP UT, Special Secretary Home, Secretary Health& Family Welfare, Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary Education, SSP Crime UT, Director Health Service, Deputy Director CFSL, , DD DRI, AD NCB, AD Mail Department of Posts, DIG -BSF, among others.

Sh. Amanjit Singh, IRS, Zonal Director NCB Chandigarh briefed the chair on the drug trafficking scenario in the UT of Chandigarh and a detailed presentation on the NCORD mechanism & Agenda items were. The drug situation in Chandigarh was discussed in length consequent to which the Advisor took the following critical decisions:-(SUBHEAD)

a) A special emphasis was made to make the city as a Drug Free City.
b) All law enforcement agencies and stake holders present in the meeting should create awareness among the youth specially College and University students about the ill effects and post use effects of Drugs.
c) UT Advisor directed to implement the NDPS Act stringently while dealingwith the drug dealers.
d) UT Advisor also directed the police to keep a special watch on all colleges, Panjab University ,Pubs & Restaurants in Chandigarh to prevent the abuse of drugs.
e) UT Advisor directed NCB to ensure that Narco traffickers are deprived of any profit from proceeds of drug trade.
