Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab Vice President and daughter of former CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Jai Inder Kaur today visited villages of Patiala District to take stock of damage caused to crops due to untimely incessant rains.

Jai Inder Kaur along with party workers visited affected farmers of villages Behal, binjal, Dudan gujra, Bibipur of Patiala District's Sanaur and Samana constituencies.

Talking to the media after visiting farmers Jai Inder Kaur said, “It's very tragic to see the huge losses that our farmers have suffered due to these untimely incessant rains. Punjab is an agrarian state and we are also called the food bowl of India. The Rabi Crop of our farmers was ready for harvesting and they would have gotten a good return on their produce. But sadly due to heavy rain falls the maximum crop in the fields has been damaged, as such the farmers have suffered an irreplaceable loss.”

(SUBHEAD)Requesting the Chief Minister Jai Inder Kaur said, “CM Bhagwant Mann has announced compensation for damaged crops amounting to Rs 15000 per acre which is way less then what the farmers want and deserve. I urge CM Mann to immediately enhance the compensation to atleast Rs 30,000 per acre so that some much needed respite can be provided to these farmers.”

Talking about Girdawari the BJP leader said, “After meeting and interacting with several farmers I have learned that proper Girdawari of the fields isn't being done, I urge the Government and the administration to ensure proper, fair and timely assessment of the damage, so that proper compensation can be provided to the farmers.”

Jai Inder Kaur also urged the administration to promote and educate farmers about Modi Goverment's flagship Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provides insurance coverage to farmers in case of any damages to crops.

Jai Inder Kaur was accompanied by BJP leaders Hardeep Singh General Secretary, Gagan Shergill Mahila President, Mandal president Sukhchain Singh duankala, Laljit antal General Secretary, Ramesh lamba Vice President BJP North, Dharmpal sharma mandal president devigarh, Bawa kadham, Jimmy Dakala among others.
