The administration has stepped up ground work to complete Girdawari as CM Bhagwant Mann had assured payment of compensation to the farmers for crops damaged by heavy rain by April 13.
Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal along with Balluana MLA Amandeep Singh Goldy Musafir visited the villages affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorm in Balluana constituency.
They inspected the rain-affected fields in Jodhpur and Malukpura villages and directed the officials of the Revenue Department to complete the Girdawari work at the earliest possible. They also heard the problems of the farmers.
Musafir said that the state government will provide compensation for the loss. He said that the government has increased the compensation amount by 25 percent and farmers will get compensation up to Rs 15000 per acre and has set a target to complete this task as soon as possible.
The DC said that after conducting a special survey, the lists of affected farmers will be pasted at common places in the villages so that all the people can check and ensure that the names of all the affected farmersare included. If someone is left, he can get his name added. She said that the special Girdawari is being done in a transparent manner in the presence of farmers and teams are present in the concerned villages.
