UT ADMINISTRATION XI BEAT UTCA XI BY 15 RUNS IN A THRILLING ENCOUNTER.

UT Administration led by UT Advisor Dharampal beats UT Cricket Association in a narrow encounter by 15 runs during an exhibition match played under the aegis of Gully Cricket Tournament played at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Sunday.

The UT Administration won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Arulranjan P (39) and Amit Tiwary (20) got the team off to a solid start with 65 runs at the end of the seventh over. UTCA bowlers tighten the flow of runs after both the openers retired hurt. Dharampal went for duck while the duo of Naveen (8) and Praveen (8) retired hurt. Retired hurt Vijay Namdeo Rao (18), RK Singh (2) and Saurabh Kumar Arora (4) couldn’t speed up the pace of runs. Nitish Singla (1) and Sumit Sihag (3) returned cheaply as the batting side could manage 136/4 in stipulated 15 overs.

In reply, UTCA XI gave a good start with opener Dr. Rupesh Kumar. Ravi Prabhakaran (9) and Ravi Kant Sharma (5) didn’t stay for long and returned home as retired hurt. Later, Rupesh (28) lost his wicket. Ashu Punchhi scored two while Satyam Tandon added nine runs. Vivek Atreya along with Yuvraj went on the smash all around the park but failed to reach the target and could manage only 121/3. Yuvraj scored the highest 33 while Vivek Atrey made quickfire 16 runs in nine balls.

UTCA President Sanjay Tandon honored the players in his vote of thanks. Municipal Corporation XI will lock horns with Chandigarh Police XI in the presence of former Test cricketer Kapil Dev on April 20 at the same venue.
