DISCHARGE FROM HUSSAINIWALA REDUCED TO 40K CUSECS

There is news of relief for the villages near the international border in Fazilka district that had been affected by Sutlej water fury. At present, the discharge of water from Hussainiwala headworks has reduced to only 40 thousand cusecs.
With this, water level reduced up to 6 inches in some areas of Jalalabad. In the Kawan Wali Pattan area, where the water was overflowing and going towards the fields till yesterday evening, the same has started coming back to the river now. There are chances of getting more relief from Sunday,
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said during a visit to the border villages this evening. She carried with her a lot of material for distribution and interacted with people to know about their problems and needs.
For the farmers of Bakayanwala, a village that suffered due to a tornado a few months back, this was the time to pay back. Led by sarpanch Harjinder Singh, the farmers today transported green fodder for the cattle in Fazilka border area. Markfed feed has been sent for the animals while tarpaulins are also being distributed. More tarpaulins were expected by tomorrow. Apart from this, dry ration is also being distributed.
The Social Security Department staff was providing hygienic food kits to mothers at the door step in the affected villages.
