The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has announced its intention to contest upcoming elections in Punjab and Haryana and has already started preparations for the same. This was revealed today by the party's National General Secretary (Organization) Trilok Tyagi during a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club.

In this regard, Tyagi announced the appointment of former MLA from Haryana's Charkhi Dadri, Jagjeet Singh Sangwan, as the state president of RLD Haryana and handed over the appointment letter on behalf of the party's National President Jayant Chaudhary.

On this occasion, besides Jagjeet Singh Sangwan, RLD General Secretary and Member of Parliament from Bijnor (UP) Chandan Chauhan, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister (Science & Technology) Anil Kumar, and others were also present.

Trilok Tyagi mentioned that under the leadership of Jayant Chaudhary, RLD's state units are being formed across the country. So far, state units have been established in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Telangana.

He also informed that after Haryana, a meeting of the party will be held on May 4 in Ludhiana, Punjab, where many leaders from the state will join RLD, and the Punjab state executive will be formed shortly thereafter.

Jagjeet Sangwan was an NCP MLA from the Dadri Assembly seat in Haryana in 2000. He has served as the Haryana unit president of NCP for four years and as the president of the Bhiwani District Congress for 11 years. He has also held several important roles in cooperative sectors, including Chairman of the National Labour Cooperative of India, Director of IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NCUI, NAFED, and Vice-Chairman of HAFED. Sangwan also served as the president of Dadri College Student Union from 1977 to 1979.

Tyagi stated that while the party is part of the NDA, it is fully committed to promoting the policies and ideology of its founder and farmer leader, Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The newly appointed president, Jagjeet Singh Sangwan, stated that within the next month, the RLD Haryana state executive will be formed, and within three months, appointments will be made at the district level, from presidents to lower levels.

Trilok Tyagi further mentioned that once the entire unit is formed, Jayant Chaudhary will hold major programs and rallies in Haryana. He claimed that RLD would rebuild the kind of Lok Dal that existed in Haryana during Chaudhary Charan Singh's time.

He added that many leaders and prominent people from various parties in the state are in touch with them. Tyagi emphasized that RLD will enter the elections in Punjab and Haryana with full strength and determination.

He also highlighted that the party has always strongly supported the demands of farmers and stands firmly with them. He added that they are active in politics for public service.

He has also held several important roles in cooperative sectors, including Chairman of the National Labour Cooperative of India, Director of IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NCUI, NAFED, and Vice-Chairman of HAFED.
