MEDIA WORKSHOP for INTENSIFIED MISSION INDRADHANUSH 5.0 HELD

As per the guidelines of Government of India for Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 a Media Workshop was held on Tuesday in Auditorium, GMSH-16, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest for this workshop was Director Health & Family Welfare-cum-MD NHM, Dr. Suman Singh. The District Immunization Officer, Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16, Deputy Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16, Nodal officers, Representatives from JSI and Media Persons both from Print and Electronic Media participated in this workshop.

The main objective of the workshop was to brief the media about upcoming IMI 5.0 and emphasize the vaccination of Children (0-5 years) and pregnant women in UT Chandigarh. The DH&FW in her key note address highlighted the role of print, electronic, social media in IMI 5.0.

She explained how media professionals play a vital role in effectively spreading the message about timely vaccination of children as per the National Immunization Schedule which results in community participation in Immunization campaigns.

(SUBHEAD)Media can spread awareness about benefits of Immunization of Children and Pregnant women and dispel various myths about vaccine. She appreciated the Media for its role played during COVID Vaccination campaign and in routine Immunization in Chandigarh and requested the Media persons present to help in this campaign also so that Chandigarh can achieve goal of MR elimination and vaccination of all eligible beneficiaries.

District Immunization Officer, Dr. Manjeet Singh made a presentation describing the IMI 5.0 and Status of Immunization Coverage in UT Chandigarh. He informed the participants about various activities like Trainings, Head Count Survey, Micro plan preparations so that the beneficiaries who missed any dose of vaccine can be vaccinated during the IMI rounds.

Three rounds will be conducted during the months of August (7th to 12th), September (11th to 16th) and October (9-14th) and each round will be of six days. Immunization achievements, appreciations and upcoming projects for improving coverage and quality of Immunization in Chandigarh were also shared with the participants.

The Health Department, UT Chandigarh requests the citizen to get their children vaccinated as per the National Immunization Schedule.
