VB NABS SDO MINING FOR TAKING RS 1 LAC BRIBE & ISSUING FAKE NOC

Amidst its ongoing campaign against corruption launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday arrested a SDO, Kabal Singh, of Mining department posted at Batala in Gurdaspur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and issuing a fake NOC.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Gurdeep Singh resident of village Shakala lodged a complaint on Anti Corruption Portal on 08-06-2023 that his friend Jaswant Singh resident of village Mari Buchian had approached the accused SDO to get permission for excavating soil from his four Kanal land and the SDO Kabal Singh issued a fake NOC of Mining department for excavation of soil after taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from Jaswant Singh.

After preliminary investigation of the complaint, a team of VB today arrested the SDO Kabal Singh after registering an FIR no. 28 dated 14-08-2023 under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station VB, Amritsar Range. Further investigation is under process in the case.
