Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Balkar Singh hoisted the national flag and took the salute from the march past at Fazilka. He was welcomed with a bouquet by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal and SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi on his arrival.
He said that the Punjab government was developing large water works costing Rs 419 crore rupees in Ghattianwali Bodla village and Rs 578 crore rupees in Patrewala village to provide clean canal drinking water to most of the villages in the district.
(SUBHEAD)He congratulated Fazilka farmers for adopting direct sowing of paddy and mentioned crop diversification efforts. He also acknowledged district administration projects like Mera Village Mera Jangal, Mission Abad 30 “Sikho ate Vadho”.
The minister said that a new sewerage treatment plant (STP) has been developed in Fazilka city costing 15 crores. He announced upcoming projects under the Amrit-2 scheme for upgrading water treatment plants in Fazilka and Jalalabad.
On the occasion, saplings were distributed, the minister pledged to promote responsible environmental practices.Healso visited the Asafwala War Memorial to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 war.
