“MELA TEEYAN DA” GETS OVERWHELMING RESPONSE

SNEHA BULANDI WAS CROWNED AS MISS TEEJ WHILE THE MRS TEEJ TITLE WAS WON BY BINDIYA TINNA.

On the auspicious occasion of Teej, the third 'Mela teeyan Da' was organized at Nehru Park with great fanfare by the Jakhar Trust. Thousands of women and children thronged the park, MLA Sandeep Jakhar was the chief guest.

'Gali Chatkare Wali', equipped with Savan swings, Kikli, Giddha, Bhangra dance were star attractions. Favorite dishes of Abohar were especially prepared for women. A craft-makeup market was also decorated by women entrepreneurs in which shops related to different types of craft items and makeup were decorated.

(SUBHEAD)Trinjana Selfie Point showing a glimpse of the culture of Punjab-Haryana-Rajasthan was also created in which the participants enjoyed selfies. Tombola and one-minute games were also played. Punjabi Dhol Party, Open Stage, Miss Teej and Mrs Teej Competition and especially the Aman Band performed brilliantly.

MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that the Teej festival reflects our rich cultural values and civilization. The festival serves to unite families. We are proud of women, who, despite being tied to their homes, inject life to the festivities. More than 150 prizes were also distributed on the occasion through lucky draws.
Sneha Bulandi was crowned as Miss Teej while the Mrs Teej title was won by Bindiya Tinna.
