295 flood victims who were inundated in flood water in the Fazilka area along Indo-Pak border were rescued by a NDRF team of divers from Bathinda who used boats and at many places by swimming. Under the leadership of Inspector Kanhaiya Lal and Ashish Kumar, commander of the force team, 24 jawans also distributed food and water for drinking among the flood victims, doing commendable work in village Gatti Yaru.

About a dozen villagers near Dhani Bachan Singh were trapped in the flow of water that came at once from the international border. NDRF teams were deployed to evacuate them safely. People had a boat but due to the strong current they could not sail the same, hence the NDRF team helped them.

At village Muhar Khiva, water was coming from the “Phirni” on one side of the village, but the water is still about one and a half feet below the “Phirni” of this village and the population area is safe.
