Punjab Congress on Friday launched the ‘Anti-Drug’ campaign against the ruling government and held its first massive dharna in Abohar against the drug menace in the state that propelled deaths due to drug overdose under AAP government’s ‘misrule’.
PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring accused the AAP government of betraying the people of Punjab with its false promise to eradicate the drug menace in three months in the name of ‘Badlaav’. Warring said that many people had died in the last few months due to drug overdose but AAP leadership was not at all concerned about the precious young lives.
(SUBHEAD)PCC chief said that apart from the deteriorating law & order situation, the rising number of deaths due to drug overdose was a serious cause of concern but it did not matter much for the incompetent CM. Instead of dealing with drug dealers with an iron hand, the CM was deliberately ignoring the rampant drug addiction in the state.
Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa expressed serious concerns over the drug menace and complete collapse of law and order in the state. He said that the party that promised ‘Badlaav’ failed terribly to combat the rising incidents of ‘organised’ crime in the state. Be it broad daylight murders, abductions, snatchings, drug peddling, illegal mining or other criminal incidents, the cases only increased since AAP got hold of power in the state, he added.
