Highest number of patients testing positive for dengue across Fazilka district is in Abohar but the govt hospital sans prescribed equipment.
MLA Sandeep Jakhar said he contacted Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and informed him about the problems being faced by the patients due to non-availability of equipment used for the treatment of dengue in the 100-bed sub-divisional civil hospital.
He said that in the door-to-door survey conducted by the Health Department, the number of dengue victims has been mentioned as 150. Currently the survey is going on and the department has decided to continue the campaign by declaring “War against dengue each Friday”.
Jakhar informed the minister that due to non-availability of ELISA (enzyme-linked immunoassay) and Blood Bag Tube Sealer machine in the local civil hospital, patients were facing a lot of difficulty. As dengue was at its peak, these equipment were urgently needed for the treatment.
(SUBHEAD)The MLA said that Abohar is located near the Indo-Pak border and patients from Abohar and Balluana assembly constituencies come for treatment in the local civil hospital, the number of Dengue patients here is highest in Fazilka district. He urged the minister that this equipment should be made available in the civil hospital soon so that the patients get relief. Health minister has assured that the problem would be solved soon, MLA said.
Meantime, the Municipal Corporation sanitary inspectors Kartar Singh and Jaswinder Singh said that the fogging in the city had been started on August 21, under which so far 20 wards of the city have been covered and work in the remaining 30 wards will be carried out each day, the same is likely to be completed by September 15.
SMO Dr. Neerja Gupta said that all efforts are being made at the departmental level for the prevention of dengue. People were advised not to remain filled in empty utensils while maintaining cleanliness around their houses and empty the tray in the fridge once a week.
