VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS PSPCL JE FOR TAKING BRIBE RS. 5K

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday nabbed an Junior Engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Amarjit Singh, posted Sherpur, district Sangrur for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said official has been arrested on the complaint of Ranjit Singh, resident of Kheri, sub division Dhuri.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said official has demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to replace the old transformer at his agricultural farm.

The spokesperson informed that after preliminary investigation of this complaint a VB team from Patiala range has laid a trap and the accused PSPCL official has been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused official at VB police station Patiala range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
