As life is limping back to normalcy after the flash- floods had run havoc in the villages situated along the Sutlej river in the month of August, Hoshiarpur- based Guru Nanak Charitable Dispensary and Laboratory organised a medical camp in the ravaged Dhira Ghara, a village situated along the river embankment on the Patti- Ferozepur link about 25 kms from the district headquarters.

More than 150 students and over 100 residents of the village were checked up at the local Government Senior Secondary School by a team of doctors of the NGO. The aim of the medical camp was to provide the much- needed medical care and medicines to the people suffering with dermatological and ophthalmological troubles. Speaking on the occasion, the doctors apprised the people and the students about the fear of epidemic and how skin- related diseases spread fast and how to subside these medical conditions with some precautions.

Officiating head of the school and lecturer in English Gurwinder Singh discussed about how foul smell is taking a heavy toll on the health of the students as the whole village including the school had been inundated for a month. He appreciated the students who also helped their elders in the village in this precarious situation.
