The sleuths belonging to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) along with Punjab police nabbed a member of a robber’s gang after a shootout during a joint operation today afternoon near Canal colony on Ferozepur-Fazilka road.
While divulging details Deepak Hillori SSP said that following the inputs, a naka was laid near the canal colony by CIA sleuths and police. “There were inputs regarding one Daler Singh resident of Khai Pheme ki village, who was involved in several cases of theft and robbery, was going towards Khai Pheme ki village from cantonment side along with one other person. When the police officials tried to stop their bike on the naka, the accused who was riding pillion, fired three rounds with a .32 bore pistol on the police officials on duty. The police also fired few rounds towards the accused during which one bullet hit on Daler’s right foot”, said SSP Hillori.
The SSP said that the accused Daler Singh was admitted in the civil hospital while the other accused who was driving the bike, managed to flee from the spot.
“Daler had been booked by police in 17 cases in various districts including Ferozepur, Mansa, Faridkot, Fatehabad (Haryana), Amritsar. Recently, Daler was involved in a theft incident which took place at Dulchi ke village where he had snatched gold ear rings of a woman. Besides, he was booked in a firing incident under sections 307 IPC at Aasal Uthar village”, said SSP Hillori adding that the police has launched a manhunt to nab the other accused.
