Tightening the noose around the drug smugglers in this border district, the police have freezed the properties worth Rs. 7.27 crores in this border district.
In the latest case, the police freezed the properties of another drug smuggler worth Rs. 77 Lakh. These properties included the agricultural land, a tractor, car and a even a bike also.
While divulging details, Deepak Hillori SSP said that the accused Parkash Singh alias Mintu resident of Bare ke was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence following the recovery of 31.900 kg heroin along with one pistol (PK-CAL 9mm), 61 live cartridges (9mm) and 4 four magazines on April 14, 2016.
(SUBHEAD)Parkash was booked under sections 21,23,25,27-A,28,29 of NDPS Act by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence Amritsar (Case No. DIR/ ASR/ 855 (INT-3) (NV-3) 2016 Dated 14.04.2016. He was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 15 years and to pay fine of Rs. Two Lakh and in default of payment of fine to further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one more year.
The properties which were freezed by the police include eight acre agricultural land worth Rs. 64 Lakh, one car (Maruti Suzuki Rs. 7.68 lakh), one tractor (Mohindra Tractor 4.82 lakh) and a scooter (Honda Activa Rs. 57,119).
Two days ago, the police had freezed the properties of another drug smuggler Gharwinder Singh, resident of the city area including two properties worth Rs. 1.10 crore besides the police has also seized his bank account having a cash worth Rs. 2.26 Lakh
The SSP said that this year till now the police have freezed the properties of nine drug smugglers worth Rs. 7.27 crores. “Besides, we have sent the freezing of property orders of 14 drug smugglers to the competent authority in New Delhi for the approval which are likely to be received soon. Moreover, 15 more cases are in pipeline which will sent to the competent authority soon”, said SSP.
