The team of Special Staff, South District has busted Cricket betting racket and arrested 03 persons namely Ravi Kumar, Amit Kumar and Shahid Khan in case FIR No. 640/23, dated- 12.10.2023 u/s 3/4, Delhi Public Gambling Act, PS Neb Sarai, New Delhi. Upon their instance, 02 laptops (having betting assistance software), 07 mobile phones, 01 led TV, 03 internet routers, 01 printer, 01 bill counter, 01 calculator, 12 packs of plating cards & writing material were recovered from the spot.
The team of Special Staff, South District launched a special drive against satta on the undergoing Cricket World Cup matches. The staff was regularly patrolling in the area in civvies and local sources were deployed in the area. The efforts of the team bore fruits when secret input about running of a high profile Cricket World Cup satta racket was received in the area of South District.
Immediately, a team consisting SI Jay Kishan, ASI Satish, ASI Ashok Kumar, ASI Om Prakash, HC Roshan, HC Krishan, HC Sumit & HC Anil led by Inspr. Dheeraj, I/C Special Staff/SD under supervision of ACP/Ops/South Distt. was formed to develop the information and bust the satta racket. Further, ASI Satish got a specific tip that the Cricket World Cup Satta Racket was being organized from F-79A, Ground Floor, Khanpur Extension and the accused persons would organize the betting session on the Cricket World Cup match between South Africa and Australia. After getting such an important key input the team swung into action and conducted a raid at F-79A, Ground Floor, Khanpur Extension and 03 persons were apprehended from there. Later on, they were identified as Ravi Kumar, Amit Kumar and Shahid Khan.
(SUBHEAD)Upon their instance, 02 laptops (having betting assistance software), 07 mobile phones, 01 led TV, 03 internet routers, 01 printer, 01 bill counter, 01 calculator, 12 packs of plating cards & writing material were recovered from the spot. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 640/23, dated- 12.10.2023, u/s 3/4, Delhi Public Gambling Act was registered at PS Neb Sarai and investigation was taken up.
INTERROGATION: -Mr. Chandan Chowdhary, IPS, DCP, South Distt. said, during the course of interrogation, the accused persons disclosed that they used the Betting Assistant Software to maintain book and accounts of punters (gamblers). One person remained present at Stadium (where match was played) with one phone or some electronic device (which is called line) to provide actual score which is 01 or 02 ball faster than the live match being shown on TV channels. They used this line for betting (bhaav) and passed the same to their punters. They purchased the said software from Nehru Place and line (bhaav) from their known to. Per match 5 to 7 lacs were on stake by them and around 50 Lacs to 01 crore rupees have been at stake in Cricket World Cup 2023 (09 matches played till now). They are betting since the beginning of this Cricket World Cup 2023 season.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED:- Ravi Kumar S/o Late Charan Singh R/o Khanpur Extension, New Delhi, age – 47 years., Amit Kumar S/o Sh. Surender Kumar R/o Khanpur Extension, New Delhi, age – 28 Years Shahid Khan S/o Sh. Chote Khan R/o Khanpur Extension, New Delhi, age – 50 years.
