MORE THAN HALF DOZEN FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS OF IAS, IPS AND IRS OFFICERS WERE FOUND IN THE MOBILE PHONE RECOVERED FROM ACCUSED.

The team of PS Cyber, South District has done appreciable work byarresting two accused persons namely Ravi Singh @ Ashish and Shyam Kumar in case FIR No. 85/23 dated 11.10.2023, U/s 170/419/420/120-B/34 IPC & 66 (D) IT Act, PS Cyber South, Delhi. Upon their instance, five mobile phones, 03 debit/credit cards, bank statements and cheque books were recovered.
While the team of Cyber PS South was working on cheating cases. During Social Media analysis, it came into notice that one Twitter account with display picture of an IPS officer in the name of Aishwarya Sharma, IPS posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, IPS 2017/AGMUT Cadre/B. Tech Electrical Engineering, NIT Bhopal/ Government of India was opened and the above mentioned account is impersonating as an IPS officer and asking money on the pretext of helping children/patients in the bank account provided by the fraudsters. After preliminary enquiry, a case FIR No. 85/23 dated 11.10.2023, U/s 170/419/420/120-B/34 IPC & 66 (D) IT Act was registered at PS Cyber South District and investigation of the case was taken up.–
Considering the gravity of the matter a team of Police Station Cyber South comprising of Insp Hansa Ram, SI Sandeep Saini, HC Anil, HC Vikas & HC Rajkumar led by Inspr. Arun Kumar Verma, SHO Cyber/South under overall supervision of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, ACP/Operations was constituted to nab the accused.
(SUBHEAD)Mr. Chandan Choudhary, IPS, DCP, South Distt, said, during the course of investigation, the trail through which the cheated money was transferred into the fraudster’s Bank Account was collected from the concerned bank. The details of the fake Twitter account were also obtained with IP logs and email ID. The team worked on all the available aspects of the case. Efforts of the team bore fruits when with the help of surveillance and technical analysis, location of the accused persons was zeroed down at Pratapgarh, U.P. Immediately, a raid was conducted and two accused were successfully apprehended. From their possession, 05 mobile phones, 03 debit/credit cards, bank statements and cheque books were recovered. Later on, they were identified as Ravi Singh @ Ashish and Shyam Kumar. The accused was arrested and recovered case property was seized.
INTERROGATION: –During the course of interrogation, accused Ravi Singh @ Ashish disclosed that he used to make the fake social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Gmail, LinkedIn, KOO, Threadsetc of IPS, IAS & IRS officers using theirpictures,namesandtheir bio from their original social media profiles.
He further disclosed that he used to post pictures of patients with QR code to made donation on the pretext of helping children in fake social media accounts. He also told that he had already been arrested by Delhi and U.P Police in similar MO cases. Total 08 fake social media accounts of IAS, IPS and IRS officers were found in the mobile phone recovered from him.
KNOW THE ACCUSED:
Ravi Singh @ Ashish S/o Nagendra Pratap Singh R/o Attarsand, PS- Kohandaur, Teh- Patti, District- Pratapgarh, U.P., age – 22 years. He was previously found to be involved in case FIR No. 139/2019 dated 21.08.2019, u/s 419/420 IPC, PS- Special Cell.
Shyam Kumar S/o Ramji R/o Atarsand, PS- Kohandaur, Teh- Patti, District- Pratapgarh, U.P., age – 22 years.
RECOVERY:-: 5 mobile phones, 3 debit/credit cards, Bank statements and cheque books.
The staff involved in good work is being suitably rewarded.
