Punjab's budding Shooting star Arjun Babuta has qualified for the Olympic Games to be held in Paris next year. Arjun achieved this feat by winning Gold in the 10 Mtr Air Rifle team event and Silver in the individual event at the ongoing Asian Shooting Championships in South Korea today.

(SUBHEAD) Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer congratulated Arjun Babuta for this achievement and said that it is a matter of pride for Punjab that Arjun Babuta is the third Punjabi among the 10 Indian shooters who have bagged the Paris Olympics quota so far. Earlier, Sift Kaur Samra and Rajeshwari Kumari have also qualified for the Olympics. The Indian Hockey team has also qualified directly by winning the Gold medal of the Asian Games, in which there are 10 Punjabi players including Captain Harmanpreet Singh.

He said that under the new sports policy made on the instructions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the State Government will give Rs. 15 lakh per player for preparation to the players of Punjab who qualify for the Olympic Games.
