FREEDOM FIGHTER PASSES AWAY, CREMATED WITH FULL STATE HONOURS

Noted Freedom Fighter Jawahar Lal Sharma (92), who had participated in “Quit India” movement against the oppressive British government, passed away yesterday night.

His last rites were performed today at his native village Kamagar in Ghall Khurd block. Senior officials from the civil administration and the police including Suraj Kumar Assistant Commissioner along with Pardeep Kumar Tehsildar, DSP Bhupinder Singh besides other officials reached the village and met the family members to express their grief.(SUBHEAD)  

A contingent of Punjab Police jawans gave “Guard of Honour” and reversed their arms as mark of respect to departed soul.Seema Sharma daughter of the deceased said that her father had participated in “Quit India” movement along with his maternal uncle.

As per information, Jawahar Lal had six daughters and a son and all of them are married.

While expressing his grief over his demise, DC Rajesh Dhiman said that due to efforts made by revolutionaries like Jawahar Lal, we are breathing the fresh air of freedom.”The generations will always remember the sacrifices made by the revolutionaries who helped our nation to attain the freedom”, said DC.

On this occasion, MLA (Rural) Rajnish Dahiya and MLA (Urban) Ranbir Singh Bhullar also expressed their grief.
